Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on 5th November 2025 held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, on the margins of the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) in Doha, Qatar.

During the meeting, the two Ministers discussed opportunities to enhance collaboration in key sectors, including trade, investment, and tourism.

Hon. Haimbe underscored Zambia’s commitment to fostering partnerships with like-minded nations and invited the State of Qatar to explore the numerous business opportunities available in Zambia.

The Minister highlighted Zambia’s conducive investment climate, underpinned by peace, security, stability, and a favorable taxation framework, as a solid foundation for sustainable business growth. Hon. Haimbe also noted the tourism sector as a critical area for promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Hon. Haimbe further commended the State of Qatar for its leadership role in promoting peace and security globally and reaffirmed Zambia’s willingness to collaborate on shared international development goals.

In response, His Excellency Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi expressed Qatar’s readiness to enhance cooperation with African nations, including Zambia. He emphasized the importance of establishing clear frameworks for government-to-government engagement to strengthen trade and investment ties.

Both Ministers agreed to continue consultations aimed at formalizing cooperation mechanisms that will advance economic and diplomatic relations between Zambia and the State of Qatar.

Later, Hon. Haimbe held a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser AI-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the State of Qatar.

Discussion centered on how the State of Qatar could partner with the Zambian Government to address challenges in Zambia`s energy sector through green energy projects, among others, to create a diversified energy mix.

Hon. Mulambo Haimbe further called for collaboration with the State of Qatar in Climate Resilience Building and Adaptation through the implementation of Smart Agriculture Projects including water harvesting projects.

Her Excellency Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad in response stated that she would engage relevant stakeholders within the energy and finance sectors on the proposed partnership in energy and climate resilience building. She suggested the convening of a technical meeting with relevant institutions to discuss possible collaboration in Zambia`s energy sector.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation remains committed to facilitating business linkages between Zambia and other countries for the benefit of the Zambian people.
