LDCs URGED TO STRENGTHEN IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DOHA PROGRAMME OF ACTION
01.04.25……Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has urged Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to prioritize the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA).
The Permanent Secretary said this yesterday, during her welcome address at the LDC Future Forum Focal Point workshop, held ahead of the 3rd LDC Future Forum, which begins today.
Ms. Gundersen emphasized the need for LDCs to integrate the DPoA into their national development plans and monitoring frameworks to ensure the achievement of its intended outcomes. She expressed satisfaction that the workshop provided a valuable platform for countries to exchange experiences and assess progress made.
She further encouraged Focal Points present to share the knowledge and insights gained, maximizing the impact of investments being made by the United Nations in this process.
Ms. Gundersen also acknowledged the critical role of the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) in supporting the Network of LDC Focal Points, thereby sustaining momentum for DPoA implementation.
Her remarks underscored the importance of collective action, shared responsibility, and strategic implementation in advancing sustainable development for the world’s most vulnerable economies.
The LDC Future Forum remains a crucial platform for fostering dialogue, innovation, and progress toward achieving the global development agenda.
